As we generally bottle and release Pinot Noir before Chardonnay, it is uncommon to see both wines from the same vintage and vineyard together in one lineup. But the first William Hines Vineyard release is an exception. Like the William Hines Chardonnay, this wine brims with delightfully novel qualities from its nascent vineyard, such as raspberry coulis and bark spices, lilac and glazed porcini mushrooms. A woodsy, savory undercurrent really plumes on the mouth, where the hints in all these little whispers build to a complete statement: Pinot Noir has much to offer here. The finesse and length are gorgeous.
