2024 Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir
This release brings together four wines that showcase different facets of Sandhi — from the singular character of Sanford & Benedict to the energy and structure of William Hines, capped by a Blanc de Blancs that spent nearly four years aging en tirage.
2023 William Hines Pinot Noir
This site shows incredible promise with only two vintages to its name. The 2023 Pinot Noir is simply a rush, layered with fresh strawberry, purple sage, turned earth and grilled portobello. Concentrated without density, the wine has a feeling of high PSI, each drop full of character, framed and chiseled into a well-defined path that provides equal liveliness and silk thanks to its status as the one completely destemmed red wine in the Sandhi portfolio. Here there is perfume, refinement, depth, and most of all, the sincere expression of site and the pleasures of Pinot Noir.
2024 Sanford & Benedict Chardonnay
The nose of this bottling bursts with ripe mandarin, Snow Beauty white peach, pink jasmine and a dash of well-placed oak, altogether a more generous profile for what is often a subtle and reserved wine in its youth. Still, the vineyard’s hallmarks abound: freshness, acidity, umami, all supporting orchard fruit and blossoms with texture that rolls into a toasty finish. The minuscule yields of 2024 translate to grace and ease — a friendly departure from the typically austere, steely Chardonnay from this legendary site.
2024 Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir
As Sandhi’s 15th vintage of Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir, the 2024 is right at home: A forest scene of wild rose, wormwood and fresh campfire lead the charge, while Morello cherry and red plum, delicate at first, shine with more time in the glass. Minerality and fine tannins coat the soft, cool breaths of fresh air that have come to accompany this old-vine fruit when fermented entirely with its whole clusters. As always, the wine’s structure and aromatics signal a long life ahead.
2020 Blanc de Blancs Sparkling Chardonnay
This wine is at once bright and lifted and also plenty filled in, with aromas of toasted sesame seed, Anjou pear, crème fraîche, hazelnut and flint. Welcome to a meeting of high-toned energy from cool-climate vineyards and the deeper elements of méthode Champenoise and age. Tart green and yellow fruits mesh with delicate texture and minerality to carry intrigue all the way through the finish, which sits firmly in a high register, beckoning for another sip.
