With a brooding color to match its film-noir like label, the third vintage of White Buffalo Land Trust Pinot Noir pops with snappy red berries and bark spices buttressed by deeper saline and tar aromas. This chiaroscuro between fruit and savory is just as intoxicating on the palate, where lift in texture and acidity — pulsating with spiced strawberry — meet persistent tannins and a touch of the mezcal-like note which hyper-coastal Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir can carry so elegantly. Co-fermented with about 13% Chardonnay to soften the palate, the wine’s strength is in its pleasure: with a meal or on its own.
