The original Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir of 1972’s Sanford & Benedict finds in 2023 as close to a perfect vintage as we have seen at Sandhi, and the result is nothing short of magical. Light in color per usual, crushed rose, gentian, orange peel and beach tar offer a floral, en plain air character that invites a moment to dive into its lift and complexity. There is a delicate tone to the palate, as strawberry and winter spices float on soft, refined texture with the pleasant twang of bitter tea leaves echoing through the finish.
