2023 Rinconada Pinot Noir
94 pts (James Suckling)
About
This Rinconada Pinot Noir, the first we have produced in nearly ten vintages, is a welcome return to the site that adjoins its spiritual predecessor Sanford & Benedict. Also planted by Richard Sanford in the 20th century, Rinconada leads with a beautiful ruby color alongside elements of raspberry coulis, geranium, and pink peppercorn that invigorate the nose and mouth. Each sip is lively, juicy, just impeccably gentle with pillowy tannins that coalesce into a finish so mineral and so pure. What a fascinating counterpart to the 2023 Sanford & Benedict — the two of them an ode to the inspiring terroirs of the Sta. Rita Hills.
