Our Best Winemaker Dinner of 2017!!!

I am so excited about our dinner at Frasca on Monday, June 19th. My good friends Bobby Stuckey and Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson have created a food & wine destination and a hospitality institution in a very short amount of time. So after the Aspen Food & Wine festivities wind down, I’m headed to Boulder for a special evening at Frasca.


I’ll be pouring our 2014 vintage wines from Sandhi alongside the incredible cuisine of fellow James Beard award-winner Alon Shaya. Proceeds from our evening will benefit the New Orleans’ Shaya Barnett Initiative.

Apen Food & Wine

The Aspen Food & Wine Festival is right around the corner. I’m happy to be sitting on 3 panels that will repeat on Friday and Saturday. At 2 of those panels, I’ll be pouring wines we make here in Lompoc.

“Around the World with Bubbles”

Our esteemed moderator, Momofuku Wine Director and founder of Bellus Wines, Jordan Salcito, has selected our 2012 Sandhi Brut Rosé (2nd Disgorgement) as part of a killer line-up of sparkling wines. I can’t think of a better panel to sit on at 10am!


“New California” &
“What the Heck is Natural Wine?”

I always love drinking and talking with my good friend Patrick Cappiello. We’ll do plenty of both as I’m joining him for 2 afternoon panels. The first, ‘What the Heck is Natural Wine Anyway?’ is a subject near and dear to my heart. The second panel, ‘New California: Wines from the Next Generation’ will feature our 2014 Domaine de la Côte Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir (97pts Decanter).


To top it all off, I’m joining my friends Carlton McCoy and Luca Currado for an evening of Vietti and Sandhi at The Little Nell. Unquestionably one of the best places to drink wine in America, I love returning to the Nell every summer. See you there!

Nantucket Wine & Food Festival

I always love visiting Nantucket every spring. This year, I’m putting on my ‘Oregon’ cap to pour wines from our sister estate in the Eola-Amity Hills, Evening Land.

I’ll be pouring at all 3 Grand Tastings, leading the Oregon Panel, and tasting through our full range of wines from the 2014 vintage. If you’re headed to Nantucket, please say hello!

2017 James Beard Foundation Awards

The James Beard Foundation Awards have played a big part in my life. It was a special honor this year to be inducted into the James Beard Who’s Who.

To be inducted alongside a great California chef like Suzanne Goin, whose restaurants have played a huge part in supporting our wines, makes this moment all the more rewarding.

I’m most humbled to join my two greatest mentors, Larry Stone and Jim Clendenen, in receiving this honor. Larry set my palate and my work ethic on the course to become who I am today and Jim showed me the incredible terroir of Santa Barbara County and the Sta. Rita Hills. His wines played a huge part in the decision to start Sandhi.  I am inspired to continue being of service to others in our industry.
