2009 Evening-Land Tempest Pinot Noir
Santa Rita Hills / 750ml / SOLD OUT
Only 8 miles from the Pacific, the Evening Land vineyards are planted in silty clay and diatomaceous shale, and exposed directly to the ocean-chilled winds from West.
Planted at over 4,000 vines per acre, with only California heritage clones and bud wood from Burgundy, the Tempest Vineyard represents one of the most ambitious California Pinot Noir plantings.
The 2009 Tempest Vineyard Pinot Noir was produced from the first harvest of the newly planted vineyards of Evening Land, located on the Western border of the Santa Rita Hills appellation in Santa Barbara County. Both the well-drained soils and the cool climate force the vines to ripen their fruit slowly, creating Sandhi Wines that are fresh, complex and balanced, with vibrant colors and lengthy, ripe tannins.
